social networking

i pretty much burnt out on the whole social networking thing when i was in fidonet.

i had a myspace page for about 5 minutes.

like everyone else i have a facebook page, but only because the people at work guilted me into it. i didn’t use it much because the interface was pretty much unusable… ‘course now that it IS usable i don’t go on it much. usually only when someone contacts me.

for years i’ve been trying to find friends i hung out with. used google mostly, but since i’ve had my facebook page a good number of people have found ME.

just today a friend i’ve been trying to contact for ages found my facebook page. so if facebook disappeared tomorrow it’s served it’s purpose.

i realized a while back that not everyone posted in newsgroups, or web based forums so anybody i know who just surfs casually probably hasn’t ever entered their name on a web page… google needs something to work with.

there’s still two people i’m trying to contat (dave, keith, jackie, from shilo, if you’re out there…)

Hmmm…. I wonder, does Facebook have a Neil Roy filter also?

I haven’t heard from him in ages. Since the boards disappeared, the online community here did also. the few stragglers that camp out in the k-town general newsgroup aren’t really any of the people we used to know…
