squarespace
Saturday, October 17th, 2009squarespace sponsors a lot of the podcasts i listen to so i thought i’d give it a shot. the thing i was interested in the most were the stats.
hmmm, where to start. ok, it’s not for beginners, and it’s not for anyone who wants to do something really advanced. and it’s not for intermediate bloggers either. i’m not really sure who the intended audience is supposed to be i had a problem at all stages.
first i chose a template. i was disappointed at the lack choice. but because i was testing a trial account, i picked one i thought i was half interesting and tried to work with it.
once i had the template i tried to do two things i thought would have been obvious. one, i tried to change the colour of part of the template, but it couldn’t be done, clicking on the section i wanted and changing the colour didn’t change what i thought was highlighted, only part of it.
two, i tried adding a widget for comments. not possible but at least the comments can be accessed from any post.
finally the showstoper. tried to import my current blog (ie. this one). i tried each method. i couldn’t do it via login, but i got a “successful” import via a previous xml export. problem was that it didn’t show up on the journal page (yes i checked the structure menu, etc.) nada.
so 1 day into my 14 day trial (giving it a good couple of hours) and i think i’m done with squarespace.
