Lost paint

Monday, May 24th, 2010

So the lost “writers” painted themselves so thoroughly in a corner that they decided to pull a Dallas. But they went one better instead of just one season they did all six.

Really? Guys you had nothing else?

What about turning everyone into black smoke that cleverly comes out of Locke’s ass?

TV executives

Thursday, May 20th, 2010

if you’re a tv executive and you’re scratching your head trying to figure out why nobody is watching tv anymore. here’s some ideas:

- 30 minutes of tv = 20 minutes of actual content

- you censor anything that looks like a movie

- the tard factor in your focus groups is very high

- you rely on ratings  based on equipment a good percentage of your audience has      no access to

- you cancel tv shows based on the last two points above

- the internet has better content

yeah, i’m a little bitter because one of my favourite shows got cancelled due to tv-executivism. Life on Mars. Great show probably didn’t appeal an audience who heard about the ’70’s on the internet and didn’t really know what it was.

other shows that were ahead of their  time: “Nowhere Man” and “Profit”

the “big three” should take a look at Fox. These guys came out of nowhere didn’t follow traditional tv season schedules and made a name for themselves (the simpsons, x-files, south park). how many of YOUR shows have dialog that made it’s way into the popular lexicon?

…yeah, that’s what i thought.

comedy tv

Tuesday, April 27th, 2010

watching a bit of a great comedy on tv (ok, not a comedy but it’s funny)

latest episode of Lost. in this episode we go back to 1867 (or whatever), last time i watched it it was 1977, apparently somebody’s going to tell someone about the island, Jacob gives an assignment..

i’m sure they’re making it up as the cameras are rolling…like the last 2 or 3 seasons…

- bitter ex-Lost fan.

riverworld

Sunday, April 18th, 2010

in 2003 somebody got the idea to make a movie based on philip jose farmer’s Riverworld series.

they did not do a good job.

i saw the movie a few months ago. i’m a big fan of the series which i read years ago. i see on the imdb forums they are calling it the “original” movie. um, ok.

so a different group of geniuses decide to make the movie (or mini series, not sure i saw it as a two parter the other night) again this year.

ok, free ticket for the clue train that the writers can use anytime.

you don’t take a 5+ book series, which has a ton of material you can use, rip out a lot of good content and then replace it with your non-pulitzer price tripe.

you don’t throw out random plot bits from the book with no explanation. yeah the fans of the series will get it, but they’re gonna have to explain it to the people watching with them.

you don’t reverse characters ideals, remove other characters (that you hinted might show up) and add your own characters, include stupid flashbacks to support the new characters.

you don’t try to stuff 5+ books into 3 hours of movie.

and you absolutely DO NOT have a stupid dumb feep ending where Methos saves Riverworld.

recruit a friend

Sunday, April 18th, 2010

i’m starting to think that Blizzards’s “Recruit a Friend” option they have for World of Warcraft is a bit of a scam.

Sure i’m seeing the new mounts so obviously somebody got through the whole process but i haven’t.

when i go to the status page it doesn’t even show the friend account as having been upgraded to a standard account. it’s completely paid up to the end of this month, and of course, the referring toon doesn’t have his mount yet.

i don’t want to go on and on about it or i’ll start to sound like Francis (check out the rest of his. pure genious :)

i guess i’ll just have to get any of nice mounts the hard way… by earning them
