The lost shark

Friday, January 29th, 2010

After reading Adam savage’s tweat about lost I think I’ve narrowed it down to the event where they jumped the shark.

When John Locke turned the gear to move the island.

Seeing that typed out now I realize that’s where I should have stopped watching it.

No problem though, not watching the last season. As graham chapman would have said ” ok, stop this it’s gotten silly”

boxee

Sunday, September 13th, 2009

i can only describe my first use of boxee has s dismal failure. granted i was using it under snow leopard but there were two issues that make the program distinctly unfriendly to use.

when boxee fires up you have to login. why? what if i’m only going to access local content? is it for the “social networking” aspect? if so what if i don’t want to get or send any recommendations? dumb idea, i expect when it gets out of beta there will be workarounds from people who feel the same way.

and speaking of local content why do these media aggregators make it so hard to get at your local content? ok i didn’t read any boxee docs but it should have been relatively intuitive to set and use a local directory.

plex makes you jump through a few hoops also. but works for the local content.

and front row doesn’t even let you.

another round of stupidity

here we go again. dan brown’s new book “the lost symbol” is going to be released in a month or so.

wait for mediots (media idiots ™) to say that dan brown is “claiming” various things they don’t agree with or are patently absurd. even though it’s a novel where author’s make stuff up for the plot.

well…he was like…wasted…or something. i don’t… i don’t really know what he meant.

to paraphrase his comment, he was like ozzy without the vocabulary…

guitar hero II… again

Sunday, April 20th, 2008

i finally managed to find a copy of guitar hero II AND the guitar controller. there’s a number of places around town that will sell the game but no guitar go figure.

anyway, while playing again, i noticed that do really well on some tunes and not so well on others. not because the other tunes are any harder, but because i think the songs suck dead bunnies. for example, i can almost get through flawlessy wolfmother’s “woman”. but i still have a problem with the foo fighters tune (monkey wrench i think). basically the song sucks, and i lose interest in it right away.

the real challenge for me with the game is going to be getting through the tunes that suck…
