Postal strike

Wednesday, June 1st, 2011

We’re about to have a postal strike up here in the great white north. Apparently people working for then postal service haven’t figured out that you can’t ask for more ANYTHING, when the only way to pay for it is to raise the cost of your services. Services that people just aren’t using as often anymore.

M_O_O_N that spells Mars

Sunday, April 18th, 2010

obama announced a few days ago that the U.S. was not going back to the moon, “because we’ve been there”

it would be a major achievement to send a manned mission to mars, but i think that mission would be an epic fail.

back in 1969 (if you don’t believe the conspiracy theories) NASA sent guys to the moon with probably less technology than is in your fancy remote.

these days shuttles explode because a tile bought at a big box store came off during re-entry.

and for those that remember the first shuttle launch in ‘77 it was postponed because 3 computers couldn’t agree on some timing.

i think NASA needs to go back to basics and at the very least go to the moon just for the practise of a manned mission.

earthhour

Sunday, April 6th, 2008

last weekend we had earthhour. the local news reported that the city i live in saved 3% in energy usage.

3%

i’ll go out on a limb and say that’s about the same percentage of people who actually cared about earthhour.

personally i think the idea of saving the planet is a good one. but we have to be smart about it. here are some of the dumb things that are being done.

“earth saver” light bulbs. the first type were 52 watt incandescent replacements for the standard 60 watts. only problem was they didn’t last very long, so that meant more they were adopted by the general public the more ended up in landfill. i wonder tho the edison wannabe was that came up with that one.

now we have those curly tube fluorescent bulbs. these aren’t saving the earth either. first off they don’t last as long as those 60 watters did. AND they have mercury in the ballast. the inventor of this particular gem was even dimmer than the the previous guy.

and they keep pushing these stupid things in commercials.

the worse part is that you can’t even rely on regular 60 watt lightbulbs anymore. they seem to have a lifespan under regular use between 3 and 6 month.

earthhour once year isn’t going to help. make it once a week and it might make a difference…especially if you start adding up all he ose 3% savings.

pizza hut

Sunday, January 13th, 2008

i meant  to write this on dec 31.

i think i know exactly how much money the local pizza hut made that night from at least 7pm on wards.

zero dollars.

this is because when i phoned to order a pizza they were closed.

that’s right. string the concepts together:

new years eve. pizza hut. closed.
