i’ve gone through a few rss readers on the ipad… the lcars reader was nice but the trek interface gets old after a bit. i stopped looking as soon as i hit “earlly edition”. it formats your feeds like you were reading a newspaper. perfect for reading on the ipad. it actually makes reading a lot of rss feeds an enjoyable experience. i found i don’t miss items because i can scan an entire page of articles instead of going through a long list…

it’s not a free app, but well worth it if you want to keep up on rss feeds.

the selling point for me was that it could import all my feeds from google reader. makes it very easy to add feeds that way even though you can do it though the app itself…

about a year ago i had a marvel subscription to check out what the big deal was for digital comics. the reader was ok, but it seemed to me that some panels were being missed. not a big deal because you could work around it.

what annoyed me the most was the lack of comic availability. yeah it’s great to read iron man #146 and hulk #382. but #1 of anything forget it… just today i see they actually had hulk #1 for free. which is nice kind of offsets the 36 issues total they had for the hulk character. that’s 36 out of 300+ issues.

the marvel app for the ipad is great, and the comics are a great price, but i’ll have to be patient if i want to pick up an entire series that’s anything over 10 issues.

just the other day the comicbooklover app for the ipad was just updated. it’s a free app and only in version .04 alpha (or something like that) but i would have no problem paying $9.99 for the app right now. they’ve improved the transfer to the ipad process and the reading experience. i have a ton of digital comics (my hard copies are safely stored away).

there are other ipad comic apps, but support for the cbr/cbz is non-existent.

Gonna have to disagree with the gang on macbreak weekly. They’re reasoning for apple allowing the opera mini browser on the iPhone was that safari was better so there was no competition. Nope. No way. I would agree that they might think that’s what apple was thinking. Opera mini is much better and when it gets to the iPad there won’t be any competition. Opera will be the hands down winner.

Using safari really IS like using a browser from the early ’90’s.

I like tweetdeck on the touch so it was a no brainer to get it on the iPad. Except it sucks a little. The one thing it doesn’t when it updates is show the little red icon that let me know how many tweets came in, which in turn let me know how much I had to scroll down by. So I’m re-reading more tweets than i need to.

The other thing it does is that when you tap the “view in safari” button, you have to quit safari and relaunch tweetdeck.

Bottom line is that it’s still easier to read tweets on the touch/iPhone than it is on the iPad.

if you’re a tv executive and you’re scratching your head trying to figure out why nobody is watching tv anymore. here’s some ideas:

- 30 minutes of tv = 20 minutes of actual content

- you censor anything that looks like a movie

- the tard factor in your focus groups is very high

- you rely on ratings based on equipment a good percentage of your audience has no access to

- you cancel tv shows based on the last two points above

- the internet has better content

yeah, i’m a little bitter because one of my favourite shows got cancelled due to tv-executivism. Life on Mars. Great show probably didn’t appeal an audience who heard about the ’70’s on the internet and didn’t really know what it was.

other shows that were ahead of their time: “Nowhere Man” and “Profit”

the “big three” should take a look at Fox. These guys came out of nowhere didn’t follow traditional tv season schedules and made a name for themselves (the simpsons, x-files, south park). how many of YOUR shows have dialog that made it’s way into the popular lexicon?

…yeah, that’s what i thought.
